How to install autoconf on Mac computers

autoconf is a program that needed to fully configure Continuity. It used to be provided by an additional download, but that source is no longer around. The next release of Continuity will include autoconf, but until then users will need to install it themselves. It is a very straight forward process as detailed below.

  1. Download the source: The rest of the steps will be taken place in the Terminal application (/Applications/Utilities/Terminal.app)
  2. Extract the source, I'll assume you have downloaded the source to your downloads file:

     cd ~/Downloads
     tar zxvf autoconf-2.69.tar.gz

  3. Compile and install autoconf
     cd autoconf-2.69
     ./configure
     make
     make install

autoconf is now installed and you can now configure Continuity fully by running the following commands in /Applications/continuity directory:

source mglinit
autoconf
./configure
